The Junior Welfare League of Sumter presents the annual Sumter Arts Showcase, with performers from Miss Libby’s School of Dance, and is held at Patriot Hall. This year's Showcase will take place on Saturday, Feb. 23.
The event raises money for Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital's Women and Infants Pavilion. Over the years, donors have contributed more than $175,000 to hospital-related projects through the Sumter Arts Showcase and its generous sponsors like you.
Below is a link to the 2018 Scholarship Endowment Application. Applicants must download the document, complete all instructions, and turn it in to the Tuomey Foundation office by the end of June. Thank you for your interest! We are thrilled to offer this scholarship endowment now for 16 years. It is our sincere hope this will be helpful to recipients as they move forward in furthering their education.
Palmetto Health Tuomey, with the help of the Tuomey Foundation and Duke Energy, created an activity book for students called "Are You My Job?"
The book features careers available in health care from A-Z and is designed to show students just how many jobs are required in a hospital.
On Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018, 11 team members from Palmetto Health Tuomey, representing a variety of hospital departments, were on hand to unveil the coloring book — drawn by local artist Lexi Melton — to second-graders at our partner school, Lemira Elementary.
The goal of our partnership and the book is to educate, encourage and excite students about STEAM-related (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics) career choices. Today's event allowed students to talk to the team members and ask questions about various career paths.
